Today we are taking a look at The Hallmark Channel DRAMA Explained! To summarize the controversy- The Great American Family came after Hallmark and many feel it is a “copy, paste” of Hallmark.

The CEO of Hallmark, Bill Abbot, quit and left to join GAF, poaching many Hallmark actors along the way such as Candace Cameron Bure, Danica Mckellar, and many famous other actors. Since then, Hallmark opened its doors to diversity, focusing on Hallmark movies including actors of color, and a few LGBTQ+ inclusive movies while the Great American Family honed down on Christian values and “traditional family” content.

While both networks are considered “family friendly”, not all agree.. This change in content has created a strong divide amongst viewers. Some say- Hallmark is just reflecting what our actual society looks like today while others feel very strongly that they are “too woke” and do not appreciate the new diversity in their movies. Many have become team Hallmark or team GAF.
